About me, family historian Carol Cooper

My experience as a family historian is based upon more than a quarter of a century's research and a knowledge of the resources available. Born and bred in Gloucestershire, initially my interest began at a very early age when my grandparents told me a little about their own upbringing - I found it a most fascinating subject. I am now a mother of two and a grandmother of four, each one of whom have entered this world with their own personal family pedigree enabling them to grow up with a knowledge of their roots.

The interest I gained from my grandparents set a precedence and as I matured I began by trying to discover more. With an enquiring mind I gained experience in discovering how to interpret the information contained within documents held in archives and local studies libraries and more importantly, how they related to my own family's foundations. I didn't discover that I descended from anyone "famous" but the experience did teach me how to leave no stone unturned in my desire to seek and acquire more information.

Now domiciled in the south east of England I'm a regular visitor to the Hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies Library and a member of the Hertfordshire Family History Society and Gloucestershire Family History Society. I am also registered with a Christ's Hospital Pedigree and can prove my descent as a Consanguine of John & Frances West, founders of the West Charitable Foundation for Education at Christ's.

I have a passion for family tree research and the ability to generate my skills and experience into researching other people's ancestry to provide them with a lasting memory of their roots.
